UPDATED – Chattahoochee River Shootout 2016 Map
Come join Georgia Kayak Fishing as we float the Chattahoochee River for the state’s first-ever kayak trout fishing tournament. Voted one of the Top 100 trout streams in the country by Trout Unlimited, the Chattahoochee offers anglers a chance at both brown and rainbow trout as it flows southward from Buford Dam toward the city of Atlanta.
We’ll meet at Settles Bridge at 6am for our captain’s meeting. After that, you’re free o fish any stretch of the Hooch from the Dam down through the take-out at Jones Bridge. Our weigh-in will happen at 3pm at the Abbotts Bridge Park & Ramp, so if you’re planning to travel a bit to fish, please be sure you’re back on time.
For this tournament, we will be scoring fish by their weight – not their length – so you’ll need to keep your trout and bring them with you to be weighed-in. You’re permitted to keep up to your Georgia daily creel limit, however we will only be scoring your three heaviest trout toward your total. After we hold the weigh-in, there’s going to be a fish fry to enjoy the fresh-caught trout.
If participating in the first-ever kayak trout tournament in the state and the fish fry aren’t enough to convince you to come out, maybe some of the great prizes that we’ll be giving away will:
1st place – Wright & McGill 9′ / 5W Gen2 S-Curve fly rod
2nd place – Wright & McGill 7′ 6” / 4W Gen2 S-Curve fly rod
3rd place – Wright & McGill 9′ / 9W Gen2 S-Curve fly rod
In addition to the prizes for placing, someone will be walking away with a sweet new flyfishing combo. Everyone attending will get one ticket toward a Wright & McGill 9′ / 5W Gen2 S-Curve fly rod and a Wright & McGill Dragon Fly Reel 5W / 6W.
Register now and be sure not to miss out on the awesome event!
