Chestatee River Tournament
The Chestatee River begins at the confluence of Dicks Creek and Frogtown Creek in northeastern Lumpkin County. From there it flows through the North Georgia mountains until it joins with the Chattahoochee River forming Lake Lanier. The upper stretch of the river holds brown and rainbow trout, while the lower reaches are home to spotted bass, shoal bass, and even the occasional red-eye bass. We’ll be targeting those bass on Saturday August 13 as we float this Georgia Kayak Fishing favorite.
Our captain’s meeting will be held at 6:30am at Chestatee River Adventures on Hwy 60. After the captain’s meeting, anglers can fish one of two stretches – Hwy 52 → Hwy 60 or Hwy 60 → GA 400. For anglers choosing to float the 52 → 60 stretch, we will have a GKF staffer there to safeguard boats during the captain’s meeting. Our weigh-in will be held back at Chestatee River Adventures at 4pm. Anglers fishing down to GA 400 will need to come back to the outfitter for weigh-in.
